CarSignal (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use the CarSignal mobile application (“Application”).
CarSignal is built as a privacy-first, offline-ready vehicle dashboard diagnostic tool. We do not collect, sell, track, or share your personal data.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
CarSignal operates entirely on-device without requiring user account registration or cloud server synchronization.
- No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect personal identifiers such as your name, email address, phone number, location, IP address, or vehicle identification number (VIN).
- No User Accounts: You can access all features of the Application without creating an account or logging in.
- No Analytics or Tracking: We do not track your app usage, search queries, or browsing history within the app.
2. Device Permissions & Usage
To provide diagnostic functionality, CarSignal may request permission to access certain device features. These permissions are used strictly on your local device:
- Camera & Photo Gallery Access (Optional): Used solely to capture or select images of dashboard warning lights for local visual scanning and comparison. Images processed by the Application are analyzed locally on your device and are never uploaded, stored on external servers, or transmitted to third parties.
- Flashlight / Camera LED (Optional): Used strictly for the roadside hazard strobe beacon feature to assist in nighttime emergency visibility.
- Storage / Local Preferences: Used to store your saved dashboard symbols, custom maintenance notes, and light/dark theme preference locally on your device using Android’s secure app storage.
3. Data Storage and Retention
All user data created within the app—such as bookmarked warning lights, personal notes, and app settings—is stored locally on your device’s internal storage (SharedPreferences / local database).
- Data Control: You retain complete control over your data.
- Data Deletion: You can delete your saved notes or bookmarked symbols directly within the Application at any time. Clearing the Application’s storage or uninstalling CarSignal permanently removes all stored data from your device.
4. Third-Party Services & Links
CarSignal does not include third-party advertising networks, analytics tracking SDKs, or social media plugins.
If you choose to initiate feedback or report missing dashboard symbols by tapping the support button in the app, your default email client will open to compose an email to gemnicreatives@gmail.com. Any information provided in such communications is voluntary and used solely to respond to your inquiry or improve the app.
5. Children’s Privacy
CarSignal complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Google Play Families Policy. The Application does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). Since no personal data is collected from any user, children can safely use the Application.
6. Compliance with Google Play Developer Policies
CarSignal complies with Google Play’s User Data Policy and Prominent Disclosure requirements:
- On-device local camera/photo features operate transparently with clear user prompts.
- No hidden background data transfers occur.
- No sensitive personal data is collected or transmitted.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app updates or regulatory changes. Any updates will be published within the app or posted on our official listing page with an updated “Last Updated” date.
